Where have I been?

Seriously…where have I been?

A sabbatical? Perhaps. Lets see what the definition tells us. Hmm…there were quite a few different definitions, the only one that even came close was from www.dictionary.com and said “any extended period of leave from one’s customary work, especially for rest, to acquire new skills or training, etc.”.  Unfortunately, I did not acquire any new skills or training, and resting was not involved. OK, none of the definitions pertained to me. It was NOT a sabbatical.

So, where have I been?

All I can really come up with, is that the family-owned business I worked for was sold to a corporation about one month after my last post in April 2015. The culture changed completely from being customer/service oriented to being all about the money. I had been there for 20 years and made it two and a half more years until this past January when I had had all I could take and retired.

At the time, back then, I did not just up and quit designing and making jewelry. It was a slow, downward spiral into a lack of creativity. I did not even realize it was happening until it happened. Looking back now, it was almost like waking up one day and realizing no more jewelry was being made. I had no idea that the stress experienced during my work days could have that kind of effect on the rest of my life. It is actually quite sad, and bringing some moisture to my eyes. I have been in mourning for my lost creativity.

BUT, since retiring, my spiritual quest has taken me farther up the mountain, a few pieces of jewelry have been made, gardening has been ongoing, line dancing classes happened, and a poodle skirt was sewn (for a line dancing demonstration at a Sock Hop). It’s happening, my creativity is alive!

I will not go so far as to say I’M BAAACK…but, I’m here.

Peace and love, Phyllis
