On a Roll…

Getting on a roll making jewelry, updating my website, working in the yard, meditating…every day! Well, almost every day, and that’s a wonderful thing. In the past (and a not too far in the distant past) when I became obsessed with a project, everything else fell by the wayside. Now, it feels like being obsessed with more than one thing at time, and I’m loving it. Perhaps I should not be writing about it, even though I’m not actually superstitious, but have been known to knock on wood. Many times when I take to writing about something it’s to figure out a problem, and this is NOT a problem. When a piece of jewelry is finished, my space gets cleaned up, descriptions entered in my inventory spreadsheet, tags made, pictures taken and edited, PayPal pricing button created, and my website is updated. In other words, instead of going from one creative jewelry-making piece to another, I’m slowing down and doing all the maintenance work right away. It’s quite relaxing to not have five or six pieces in process at the same time, with all the wire and beads and findings scattered all over my work table. Ahhhhh…the sound of relaxation and enjoyment.

Blogging, Journaling, and OCD

Journaling is enjoyable and enlightening, and I do it most every day. But, blogging is different for me. I admire people who can write blogs every day, or even once a week. If you look back at the dates of my posts you will find that I am getting MUCH better at writing them in a reasonable time frame.

I’ve kept journals since a teenager and about 20 years ago my mother gifted me with the best journal ever. You can look back at what you did on that date for 11 years, so not sure why it’s called a 10 Year Journal, but I’m on my 2nd one. There are lots of pages in the back when you need to write more than the space allows. Maybe I journal more than blog because then it’s for an audience. Most of my journaling would be fine for public viewing, but definitely NOT all. My husband asked me once if he could read my journal, I said “no”, and that was that. Of course, I do not know if he reads it, but I think not. He’s never mentioned anything that’s written in there.

What I have noticed in the last few weeks is that I am able to create jewelry, keep my website updated, and work in the yard…all in the same day! That is an accomplishment for me. I have self-diagnosed myself as having a relatively mild case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and, normally, when I begin doing something obsessively, nothing else gets done. I had neglected this website for a few years when I stopped making jewelry (Where Have I Been?), and for a few days I did totally focus on updating it. Then I leveled out, kept working on it, but on other things, too…very unusual activity for me. Wonderful, but unusual. Maybe I’m growing up ๐Ÿ™‚

Old Dog Learns New Trick

Success! Behold…look up in the address bar and see something normal to most websites, including mine as of today! Do you see where it reads createpeaceandlove.com/old-dog-learns-new-trick, or maybe this-that-the-other? YES! Yesterday it would not have mentioned an old dog or this and that, it would only have had some symbols and numbers…happiness overflows today.

I’ve loved computers and learning about them since my first one with Windows 3.1 back in 1992. The URL (Uniform Resource Locator) has changed to very important as I become more involved (obsessed, perhaps?) in developing this website with my new jewelry. After much research and searching forums (where they write so my youngest son would understand what they’re talking about…but not me), finally I submitted a Help request, and answers I could understand came from DreamHost, my most wonderful, longtime, web hosting company. The tech support person actually created a short video for me ๐Ÿ™‚ demonstrating exactly what would happen when the settings were changed for my permalinks (my new word for the day, or week, maybe month). I had great fear (calmed by DreamHost Tech Support) of completely wrecking my website, as in nobody would find the pages when they clicked on Necklaces, Bracelets, etc.. You’ve probably heard of the “blue screen of death”, well, if a website has a messed up URL, then you will reach a “404 Page”, and for a webmaster, that’s closely related to the blue screen (hyperbole ๐Ÿ˜€ which was last month’s word of the day).

Ahhh…basking in a relaxed state of euphoria…until my next website dilemma.

Free Shipping option has been added

I love free shipping, and there are many times I will not purchase an item online if free shipping is not offered. Because my prices are reasonable (some even say “too low”) I had not considered that option before now. Free shipping is a misnomer as it is not free to me ๐Ÿ™‚ but, as a customer, I love free shipping. Have I said the words “free shipping” enough, yet? So, if you purchase $30 or more, then you will now receive free standard domestic shipping. Please…feel free to take me up on it.

Isolation and Creativity

I have been making jewelry while staying home, but have not updated my pictures on here. What good is this website if it remains stagnant? No good. So here goes, beginning with a new blog post and a few pictures.

recliner creativity

Usually I sit in my studio, but the office chair in there gets uncomfortable, so off I went to the living room and my recliner. I do have to give a shout out about the board you see under my jewelry tray. It was designed and made by my son, Jimi. While sitting in my recliner he measured the chair arm width and how far out from my stomach it could go, and made a curve in the board to fit around my body. He designed it to be a laptop tray, but I use it for much more than that.

Cluster necklace with green beads

Here is the final product, and is available for sale under Necklaces. Much of my jewelry is displayed for sale at Gallery 107 which is closed until Delaware goes into the next phases and businesses begin to open. But, all my jewelry is also for sale here on my website.
